Newton Aycliffe RUFC have confirmed their first team Captain for the coming season. Former Mowden Park forward Andrew Littlefair has been given the honour which he duly accepted and will lead his side out against visitors Barnard Castle this Saturday. Kick off 3pm at Moore Lane. Andrew was awarded the Newton Aycliffe RUFC’s Players Player Trophy at the end of last season – the most prestigious award for any Aycliffe player to recieve.
He has brought a wealth of experience in back row play and leads by example. The club wish Andrew luck for the new season.
The season opener against Barnard Castle is the start of the Durham County Junior Cup. It is hoped the community of Aycliffe will come down and watch the boys in action. Refreshments will be available pitch-side. The Sports Club bar will be open to all supporters. So get down for some real rugby union action bring the kids, you never know they may be inspired to play!
The following day the club is holding a family fun day on bank holiday Sunday for the players and family and friends. Tickets are still available at £5 for adults and £2 for children. BBQ food is included in the price as well as fun and games and bouncy castle. Any remaining tickets are available from the sports club bar.
The Durham Northumberland Division 3 league season starts the following Saturday away to Washington. Ko 3pm. Supporters are more than welcome to go and watch.
