Lifeline Community Action has supported over 200 people in just eight days by meeting their individual needs. Last week a Food Giveaway supported over 100 people with essential food for those who did not have enough money to feed themselves or their families.
Then we took 45 children, young people with adults joining in the fun and activities at the Jonas Centre in the Yorkshire Dales surrounded by beautiful scenery, rivers and waterfalls.
The care-free activity centre allowed the adults time to slow down away from busy lives; the children enjoyed playing games, the bouncy castle and playing with their parents and friends.
The holidaymakers stayed for almost a week in Scandinavian styled self-catering log cabins without any worries or stress. They have thanked the volunteers for making this happen as without this they could never have experienced a holiday.
Some quotes were:
‘Me and the children are very grateful for this holiday, it has given us family time to bond with each other’.
‘We are very grateful for the family break we could never have experienced it without your support’.
‘This holiday was great but the best part was being able to have fun with everybody’
“It has been great to see the Jonas Centre full of activity and smiling faces. Thank you to the funders for making this possible”
A few days later we had a fabulous day trip to Newcastle to visit two of the North East’s famous museums. It was a big success with 54 people filling the coach. There was plenty to see and do with over three floors in the Discovery Museum focusing on Newcastle and Tyneside’s maritime scientific and technological inventions.
The Hancock Museum was also enjoyed by all viewing the world under one roof and growing collections of the Natural History of Northumbria.
In such high spirits everybody took to singing with joy travelling home in the coach.
