Year 10 students at Woodham Academy have just completed a three day Enrichment week, designed to support young people to make informed decisions about their next steps into further education, employment or training. Students had the opportunity to experience a range of activities over the four days during which a personalised programme was delivered.
Students were invited to visit sixth form education providers, further and higher education providers, they were also able to work alongside the Durham Education Business Partnership. A small group worked with local businesses on developing high quality interview skills.
“The week allowed me to have experience of the choices I will have when I leave school and I am now more confident with what I want to do when I leave Woodham” said one student who had participated in the week.
Woodham Academy holds Investors in Careers status which recognises the high quality of the careers education provision available at the school, with some of the programmes acknowledged by the government in the non-statutory guidance published in April last year, as good examples of innovative practise within the field of Careers education.
