Men’s Health Month
As part of Men’s Health Month this June, the Aycliffe branch of Croxdale Fast-Fit is offering customers the opportunity to get themselves a free vehicle check-up while the NHS Check 4 Life staff give them an all in one health check up on 23rd June. Spaces are limited through the day and so it is essential to book in advance. You and your car will both be given a thorough once-over which will take around half an hour – time well spent because you can never be too careful with your health or the mechanical well-being of your vehicle.
Check-ups can save lives
This doesn’t just apply to check-ups on people, either (although men aged 40-74 benefit most from having a health screening, anyone over 16 can apply), because you could be driving with bad brakes, worn tyres or a number of other problems in your vehicle and not even know it. The Aycliffe branch of Croxdale Fast-Fit are offering this unique opportunity for a bit of a tune up because they know how vital it is to have everything in working order and to check regularly. Men visiting the Check 4 Life bus will be shown self-screening techniques which could save their lives and those of their friends – the message is very much ‘pass it on’.
Planning for the future
As part of the Check 4 Life initiative, advice is available during the check-up about diet, exercise, stress levels, alcohol use and smoking. Many people are uncertain about what labelling means on food, for example, so they can raise any questions about this with the NHS staff in the bus. In the same way, your 30 minute vehicle check will flag any problems that may become more serious over the next few months – just like adjusting your diet to lose weight, making sure that your car is in tip-top condition will make driving safer and possibly even cheaper; even a simple thing like wrong tyre pressures can be costing you money by being heavier of fuel.
