Tree Tops Occupational Therapy, Newton Aycliffe, were kindly donated a huge teddy bear by pupils at Parkside Academy, Willington. Many children attend Tree Tops for assessments and treatment to help with their motor and sensory difficulties.
The bear sits in the waiting room but is cuddled and played with by the children with great affection.
Tree Tops decided the bear needed a name and created a competition for our children to enter. We invited the children to draw a picture of the bear, colour it in, give the bear a name and give the reason why they had chosen that name.
We kindly had offers from some local businesses who donated other prizes. 1st prize of £30 voucher which was donated by Stuart Kirby Joinery & Building Work; 2nd Prize of £20 voucher donated by Paul Thirkettle Carpetcare & Upholstery Cleaning and 3rd Prize of £10 voucher donated by Dawns Secretarial Support Services.
Two of our older children Simon and Andrew (Above), were given the task of choosing the winners.
First prize was shared by 7 year old twin boys, Andrew and James (below), who said Fizzwig suits the bear as “sometimes it is nice to wear a wig and Tree Tops helps to stop being fizzy in school”. The bear is now called Fizzwig and is the new mascot of Tree Tops Occupational Therapy!
