The St. John’s School & Sixth Form College Under 15’s football team has won both County Cup competitions in the 2014/15 season.
The team beat Oxclose Community Academy in the Londonderry Cup Final, coming from behind to win 2-1. The goals were scored by Aidan Crooks followed by a last minute headed goal from Ethan Dixon to win the game. Throughout the match there was a superb goalkeeping performance from Zach Hemming.
Two days later they played Biddick School in the Earl of Durham County Cup Final, once again having to come from behind to secure the victory. A hat-trick in the last twenty minutes from Bailey Prudhoe, including an outstanding assist from an under pressure Dixon, saw them home.
Captain Ellis Tait and his centre half partner James Frankland were solid and well organised during the finals and throughout the season, with St John’s only conceding seven goals in both competitions, scoring twenty-six.
This same team also won the CIC County Cup last year (Year 9) and the TUC County Cup (Year 8), meaning they have won 4 County Cup Competitions in the last three seasons.
