WEAR VALLEY GALA
Sedgefield 75 had ten swimmers competing in a twenty events over the weekend of the 16th and 17th May. They were Niall Coulthard, Roman Alvarez, Zac Hodgekinson, Peter Golightly and Mathew Bradley. Leah Smith, Maisie Craghill, Kate Tolley, Lauren Chatt and Katelyn Craig. All the swimmers did new best times and took a total of sixteen medals Niall competed in the 200 FS and the 200, 100 and 50 Breast Stroke and the 100 IM.
Without doubt the star of the gala taking gold medals in all six events. Zac won gold in the 100 Back and Silver in the 50 Butterfly. Mathew took gold in the 200 Butterfly. Roman won silver in the 50 FS. Peter won gold in the 100 Breast and the 100 IM and silver in the 50 Breaststroke. Leah took silver in the 100 Breaststroke. Maisie won bronze in both the 100 Breast and the 100 IM. A really good weekend and an excellent well run event.
REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Hannah Featherstone and Peter Golightly competed at the Sunderland Aquatic Centre on Saturday the 9th May.
This was the first time Peter had competed at this level and he produced an outstanding performance in the 200 Breaststroke.
Hannah swam in the 200 FS and the 200 IM taking youth gold in both events.
She took the silver meal in the 50 FS and was placed fourth in the 200 Backstroke. All the swims produced new best time, important as this was a benchmark for the European Championships in June
BOSS OPEN MEET-LEEDS
Jessica and Rebecca Hall were the only swimmers who competed at the gala and put in great performances.
Rebecca took gold in the 100 Breast and the 100 and 50 FS, Jessica won gold in the 50 Breast. All the swims were NER Qualifying times.
