Dear Sir,
A lady took this picture in Aycliffe Town Centre and it’s been shared on Facebook. Sam Broad, Jack McGill, Cameron Neill and Charlie Hirst, all students at Woodham Academy, got talking to a homeless gentleman in Newton Aycliffe town centre and decided to help him.
They went to “Love Thy Cupcake” owned by Sam Broad’s mother Saffron who donated Coffee, Noodles and Cakes for this gentleman. They also obtained sweets and pop for him from Heron.
I think these young people are amazing and should be very proud of themselves for being such caring boys. They didn’t just hand over the food and drinks they actually stayed talking to him for some time listening to his stories. Their parents should be proud that their sons have such big hearts to do something like this,
A huge thank you should go to Love Thy Cupcake and Heron, and this is why we should always support our small local shops as they are good caring people.

Editor: The Head Teacher at Woodham, Christine Forsyth, told Newton News she was very proud of her students and their caring nature.
Some cynic commenting on a letter in last week’s issue suggested that just as we attract pigeons by feeding them we might now begin to attract homeless people to our town centre.
