Newton News last week delivered the good news that the Durham HQ Police Garage is being relocated from Aykley Heads to Aycliffe Business Park.
This garage has now come full circle as it was previously located on the industrial estate in the 50’s.
It used to be at the East end of Redworth Way, I am not sure when it was moved to Durham but I would guess it was in the 80’s
The Police Station on the Buisness Park is also not the first to be there. Until the 70’s the headquarters of Durham County Police force was in Ketton Way where the Ebac factory is now.
It would be interesting to find out how long both of the original facilities existed in Aycliffe.
