Students at Greenfield Community College had a break from a normal school day this week, as the Engine heads took over assemblies to give students a taste of Dru Yoga.
This award winning group of students were successful recently in acquiring funding from GAMP AAP towards a yoga course for young people, with the support of Greenfield Arts. They hope that introducing Yoga will give their fellow students some new skills and tools in relaxation, stress relief, and physical fitness.
This week Roy and Lynn Moor from Dru Yoga gave all students at the Aycliffe campus the chance to try yoga and learn about the benefits, including stress relief and improved brain function. The Engine heads have organised an after school course in yoga for their fellow young people, which will start after May Half Term.
The response to the assemblies was great, all the students had a great time starting their yoga journey – we are now eagerly anticipating the afterschool sessions. Well done Engine heads for another success!
