Sedgefield’s Go Run for Fun event took place on Friday 17th April at the Oak Leaf Sports Complex in Newton Aycliffe. The Fun Run inspired hundreds of children to run one mile and become more active.
It was a fabulous morning, organised by Sedgefield School Sports Partnership and the Great Run organisers. It was supported by a number of volunteers from Greenfield College’s Sport Leadership Academy and the Newton Aycliffe Athletics club.
Special Guests included the Mayor of Great Aycliffe and Chris Tomlinson, Olympic Long Jumper and world indoor silver medallist. Mascots included Adam Ord as ‘dart’ and Anna Cialis-Hodgson as trainer. Hares included Adam Lamb, Luis Longstaff, Steven Grimes and Joe Hind. Marshalls included 16 year 7 Sports Leaders from Greenfield College.
Well done to everyone who took part, including Greenfield’s Sports Leaders and Aycliffe Village, Byerley Park, St Mary’s and Woodham Burn Primary schools from Newton Aycliffe. Thank you to the organisers for their excellent organisation which inspired so many of our young people.
