Staff from the central office of HC-One, the country’s newest and third largest provider of residential care for older people, are braving a 60 mile charity walk to raise money for Dementia UK.
Peter Armstrong, the Sales Ledger Assistant Manager at HC-One, and Scott Morland, HC-One’s Direct Debit Project Manager, set off on a 60 mile walk yesterday from the company’s head office in Darlington.
The walk will take them through Newton Aycliffe, Bishop Auckland and other towns all the way up to Durham. As if that wasn’t enough, they will then circle back around to the offices in Darlington.
The duo will be stopping off for a chat and a welcome cup of tea at every HC-One homes along the way, including Defoe Court Care Home in Newton Aycliffe – making a total of eight brews!
Staff at Lothian House, Spennymoor, will even be providing moral support by joining them for a four mile leg of the journey on to Tenlands Care Home in Ferryhill.
Over £1000 has already been raised for Dementia UK and the walk has kindly been sponsored by the Raddison Blu Hotel, which Peter and Scott will be staying at overnight in Durham.
The walk coincides with the launch of the government’s national dementia campaign which aims to raise awareness of the disease.
