North East Autism Society (NEAS) have launched a new event they have called ‘Run the Spectrum’ that will turn their supporters into a blaze of colour.
Hundreds of people will join together on Sunday 21st September, to run, walk, hop, skip or jump a colourful 5K course at South Park in Darlington.
“This event is a chance for families to join together and have fun” said Colin Powell, Head of Fundraising & Communications at the charity and added. “This will be a fantastic event, starting in pristine white t-shirts the runners will quite literally be covered head to toe in a mass of vibrant colours by the time they reach the finish line and then the party will begin.”
Daubed the ‘North East’s most colourful family fun run’ the charity are on the look out for colourful fun loving volunteers willing to ‘splash out’ and help them raise the money they need to develop their specialist education college at their North East Centre for Autism in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham.
This £375,000 development will see an unused building on the site converted into a specialist college. Lisa Taylor, Senior Marketing Officer for the charity said; “The development of the college will enable us to increase the range of vocational learning environments for our students. One feature of the new college is a training kitchen that will give students the chance to learn practical cookery skills and turn these into a small business and will service a café area in the new college building”.
