As part of a large scale revitalisation programme, Woodham Academy has been successful in securing an investment of almost £250,000 from the Education Funding Agency.
The funding is earmarked to be spent on classrooms and other facilities to improve learning environments for students. Academy schools can bid for funds subject to strict criteria and competition is fierce.
This current round of awards drew 3300 bids from 2015 Academies across the country – four times more bids than could be funded. Woodham Academy is therefore delighted to be successful in their bid, which forms part of plans to forge ahead with an ambitious refurbishment schedule.
Work is due to begin in the summer. The programme is scheduled to run alongside other improvements to enhance student learning, and is due for completion before Christmas.
