Greenfield Community College’s Sports leaders ran an excellent multi skills event for 130 Year 2 students from local primary schools recently. Pupils from Byerley Park Primary School, Horndale Infants school, Stephenson Way Community Primary and St Joseph’s Primary School, joined Greenfield leaders for a day of challenges as part of the Get Set Olympic Legacy.
The event was organised by Greenfield staff with contributions from the leaders in choosing the activities designed to challenge the visiting sports men and women. The activities included tennis, golf, throwing, catching, boccia, jumping, aiming and more. Many of the children taking part achieved special awards for demonstrating the Olympic Values of friendship, respect, determination and excellence.
The Greenfield Sport leaders are growing in confidence each time they lead these events for Primary students. They continue to do an excellent job, representing Greenfield through their dedication, positive attitudes and behaviour. The leaders are logging the time they dedicate to helping and will receive awards based on the number of hours at the end of the year. Many of them are well on their way to reaching sufficient hours to receive a County Volunteering certificate.
The Sports leaders’ programme is a great opportunity for Greenfield Sports enthusiasts to share their skills, develop their ideas and support their community. Well done to all at Greenfield.
