The legendary ‘BESSIE AND THE ZINC BUCKETS’ are to play THE TURBINIA on Saturday 26th April, for Gary, the Landlord’s birthday. This is a major coup, getting a band who are currently celebrating 30 years as the north-east’s best ever band by playing a sell-out gig at Newcastle City Hall in front of 2000 fans recently.
Gary siad “It is fantastic that Kev has agreed to bring the ‘BUCKETS’ to The Turbinia, this band are huge, it is hard for chart bands to sell out at the ‘City Hall’ for a local band to do it, is unheard of, that’s how big a following these guys have, and the week after they grace the Turbinia stage, I’m really excited about this one. This shows how far we have come as a venue, that we can pull big names like this down to Newton Aycliffe. This is only two weeks after Anna, an amazing guitar vocalist, came to our weekly FRIDAY  OPEN-MIC, to warm up for her gig at The Sage, Gateshead, a couple of days later”.
