Talented young Aycliffe performer, Nathan Elwick is having a show stopping summer as he prepares for a bright future training in musical theatre.
Nathan is currently in a busy schedule of rehearsals for his role of “The Engineer” in “Miss Saigon” at Durham’s Gala Theatre. This stunning theatrical spectacle will run from 27th July to 4th August.
Former Woodham Community Technology College student, Nathan, has been given a place at a prestigious London drama school which counts Julie Andrews, Sarah Brightman and Will Young among its alumni. This follows on from gaining the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts at Newcastle College.
Nathan is now set to continue his studies at the Arts Educational Schools in London, which has Andrew Lloyd Webber as its president. He impressed the panel so much at his auditions in January and February of this year that he was awarded a full three year Dance and Drama award to support his studies which begin this September. From 60 hopefuls who attended the auditions, Nathan was one of the lucky two who were successful.
From his early childhood, Nathan’s ambition has been to be a performer. He joined the Gala Theatre Stage School five years ago. During his time at Woodham, he was a member of the college’s successful Woodham Youth Theatre. He credits both of these experiences with developing his skills and confidence and confirming his aspiration to make a career in musical theatre. At Woodham’s recent Summer Concert, Nathan returned to captivate the college audience with two vocal solos, “Stars” from Les Miserables and a Scott Alan song entitled “Home”.
Nathan explained his ambition in very simple terms, “I’m a young performer who loves musical theatre and I’m hoping to make a career out of it.”
