Rose Lodge opened it’s doors again to the public and held their fourth “Come Dine With Me” lunch this week. Head Chef David Nevison was up against Second Chef Tracey Kilburn competing for the best menu.
Both were given a budget and asked to prepare a three course meal to serve to the guests. The guests then scored the meals out of ten. The scoring was very close but resulted in David winning the prize of chocolates and wine which he took home to share with his wife. Head Chef David said “It has been a lot of fun holding the competition and it was great to see the residents, their families and guests all sitting together enjoying the meal” said David.
Following the meal guests were invited to join in a Quiz and enjoy further refreshments. One guest Marjorie who attended the lunch said “the food was fantastic, easily of restaurant quality. I have not eaten a meal as lovely as this in a long time, bring on the next one!”
The event was advertised in Newton News and diners had to reserve a place. It was oversubscribed so a reserve list was opened and they will be accommodated next time.
