On 30th January, residents from Newton Aycliffe visited Vane Road Primary School where they were dazzled by the wonderful light displays which the children had produced.
Hundreds flocked to see the Vane Road Lumiere Event which began with a fantastic Great Fire of London display by Year 2, followed by some beautiful stained glass windows and a flashing chinese dragon; equally brilliant.
Those after did not disappoint: Tudor houses, shiny robots (produced by the youngest children); glowing planes hung decoratively from a tree and pretty lanterns lit the path. Finally the trail ended at the illuminated “Ancient Wonders of the World” which was created by children from Year 6.
Hot chocolate or Bovril? Visitors were spoilt for choice at the little makeshift café set up in the ‘Quiet Area’. After filling up on hot beverages and tray-bakes, a fire-eater entertained the crowd and Dan Stone set the sky alight with his dramatic and dangerous routine.
Headteacher, Mr. Pavey said: “It’s great to see all the community coming out, supporting their children and showing an interest in their school life. The fire-breathing performance was absolutely fantastic, and an end to a brilliant evening showcasing the children’s talents.”
Overall, this was a great night-out for all and at just £1.00 per family, definitely worth the small amount of money. Everyone is very proud of the exhibition.
