This week a group of students taking part in the “Through the Looking Glass” project at Greenfield Community College visited Crown Street Art Gallery in Darlington, continuing the work of the project.
The exhibition “Inspirational Women of North East England: Past, Present, Future” was accompanied on Monday evening by a talk from artists and poets surrounding the “Love From, Women” project.
The group heard from many inspiring speakers on the night, including Vane Women’s writers group, Rowena Russell from Newcastle University and artist Holly Pines. The event was organised by Creative Darlington.
The girls from the “Through the Looking Glass” project were inspired by the women at the event, continuing the themes of this GAMP AAP funded project which is currently taking place at Greenfield Community College and Woodham Academy.
Visiting the exhibition was a fantastic opportunity for the girls to see and hear from local female role models.
The exhibition is part of a wider programme across Durham leading up to international Women’s Day on 8th March. The exhibition is on display until 20th February 2014.
