Would you like to become involved in a community group making a real difference in our brilliant town? Do you have special skills, enthusiasm or time to spare? By creating something for everyone to enjoy and a legacy for our children. join us to form “Friends of West Park”
A meeting has been arranged for Tuesday 18th February, 2013 starting at 7.00pm in the Royal Navy Club, Burnhill Way, Newton Aycliffe. This meeting has been called to officially form the “Friends of West Park” group.
The aims of the Group which is open to all residents of Great Aycliffe, are: To set up a group of volunteers who are willing to work with and under the direction of Great Aycliffe Town Council. To assist in litter picking cleaning of the lakes, planting of shrubs, bulbs, flowers and so forth.
Hopefully we can come up with ideas on how to improve the park for the general good of the public, looking at projects, costing them, and raising funds and obtaining grants to finance them.
Any suggestions will have to be ratified by the Town Council and long term implications taken into account.
The aim of the Group is specifically to come up with ideas which if they can be agreed upon, can be financed from sources other than just the local Council. We wish to add value to the West Park, its play areas and lakes environment for the benefit and general wellbeing of the public to enjoy this amenity, its open space and wildlife.
