Pupils from the School Council at Aycliffe Village Primary School have worked hard over the last two years to fundraise and create a Sensory Garden in the school grounds.
Emma Simpson, former Secretary of the School Council, came back into school this week to see the garden she had put so much effort in to creating, but had left the school before it was actually completed.
Last year’s School Council asked all pupils what they would like to see in the garden and drew up plans and ideas of what it would actually look like. The photograph shows Emma with the pupils from last year’s School Council and with the current School Council members.
Mr Gargan, Head Teacher, praised the efforts of the pupils and parents for their help in raising funds towards the school grounds development and also thanked Mrs Michelle Postma for her help in securing a Big Lottery Grant to fund the Garden.
The garden was installed by School Grounds Staff, Gail Webber and Neil Miller with help from the current Year 6 pupils. The pupils are all looking forward to using the garden as soon as the better weather arrives.
