Woodham Academy participated in yet another sporting event last week with year 7 and 8 boys and girls competing at the South West Durham Schools annual cross-country competition.
Students braved the mud and cold weather with many putting in top performances securing good overall team positions; year 7 girls positioned 4th and boys 9th and year 8 girls positioned 8th and boys 7th. This is superb and so well done to all involved. Special mention and congratulations goes to Bailey Leybourne from year 8 who, due to an outstanding performance on the day, has now been selected to compete at the County Championships which are to be held in Meadowfield in January. Bailey came 8th in a tough race of around 100 runners and, despite losing his shoe early on in the race, finished strongly.
