Year 8 students from Woodham Academy participated in a variety of exciting and engaging lessons as part of their ‘Specialist Day’. The normal timetable was suspended as students followed a series of activities, which were intended to promote physical fitness, creativity, team work, motivation and most of all capture the fun in learning.
While in PE, students participated in a choice of activities that included body combat, boxercise, cardio circuit training and indoor rowing. This was then concluded in an inter-tutor dodgeball competition. Things were a little less energetic in Art where students were making salt dough gingerbread men in preparation for their sculptures, based on the artist Sarah Jane Szikora. Sarah visited the school a few years ago to see some of the art work from our students who had been inspired by her work. In Humanities, it was the Battle of the Sexes as boys and girls competed in a variety of activities and challenges to discover whether boys were better than girls or vice versa!
A fun filled and exciting day was had by all.
