Young adventurers can go wild in the country this summer with a packed programme of outdoor activities at a County Durham museum.
Killhope: the North of England Lead Mining Museum is inviting families to explore its grounds during weekly sessions running from Tuesday, 24 July to Thursday, 30 August.
Every Tuesday, there’s the chance to make a den and enjoy jacket potatoes around the camp fire. The activity runs from 11am to 3pm and costs £5 per person. Booking is essential.
On Wednesdays, it’s time for messing about on the river as visitors are encouraged to hunt out mini beasts and discover what’s lurking under the rocks. Sessions run from 11am to 12.30pm and from 1.30pm to 3pm and cost £1 per persons. Visitors should bring a pair of wellies and a change of clothes.
And on Thursdays, families can explore the woods and observe and record the local wildlife during the weekly Backpack Adventure.
Normal museum admission charges also apply.
