Visual Arts at Greenfield Community College and Greenfield Arts this week provided a group of Year 10 students with the fantastic opportunity to experience a residency at Durham Art Gallery and Durham Light Infantry Museum.
The group spent 2 days in the DLI with artist Paul Merrick and staff from the school and Arts Centre, including a visit to see the Lindisfarne Gospels. The group looked critically at the gospels, and the current work on show in the Art Gallery by Sigune Hamman, which explores journeys.
The students have created their own responses to what they have seen and experienced during the residency: mixed media work inspired by landscapes and journeys which will form part of their GCSE portfolio.
The group thoroughly enjoyed the experience and their behaviour and attitude to the residency was a credit to the school.  Thank you to the staff from the school, Arts Centre and the DLI for organising this fantastic opportunity for the students.
