Due to popular demand the Helping Hands Team led by Alwyn White will be hosting our second fashion show of the summer on Sunday 15th September, at the Bethany Centre. Village Close, Newton Aycliffe between 7pm-9pm. The theme will be ballroom/cocktail.
Alwyn says we want this to be a glitzy event, not for the rich but for those who are facing financial crisis and for ladies and gentlemen who have never been to anything like this before.
For many people special occasions are just another reminder that they are less privileged than their peers and they are unable to afford a special outfit. “We want to go the extra mile to make our guests feel special by providing them with that special something. We really want them to feel good about themselves!
We are not selling the beautiful clothes and shoes but we are giving them away to those who need them the most! Entry is by invitation only and each person will get five vouchers to redeem on the evening for items of their choice. We have a range of new ladies clothing from size 8 – 24 and a few men’s items too!”
There will be a free prize draw for a complete makeover. One happy winner will be offered a free hair cut, mini facial, makeup, a new outfit and to finish it off a free portrait as a constant reminder of their wonderful experience.
Pictured is one of our recent makeovers (before and after photographs) Jayne Silliker says “I never thought I would ever have been chosen for all this special treatment it made me feel so amazing. I honestly feel transformed and my self esteem has massively increased. To top it all it was an evening of fun and laughter. Thank you so much Helping Hands.”
All our female volunteers on the evening will be wearing ballroom or cocktail dresses. Men will be wearing black trousers, white shirts and bow ties! “It’s great to see so many people so eager to help, and it is help we know goes a long way.” To make it a huge success we still need help with the following: Make-Up Artist, Hairdresser, DJ, Caterers/Kitchen Staff.
