Another lot of weather disruption over the weekend, forcing the cancellation of lots of games
Normanby Oranges 2 v NAYFC U11 Falcons 2 (2-4 Penalties) Cup
The home team play three divisions up from the Falcons, but the lads scored first, after five mins from Zach, but two goals from Normanby gave them the lead at HT. A great throw from Phoenix, half way through the second half, found Hunter who used his skill to take it past the defender and bury a great strike. The game ending level at full time. The Falcons first competitive penalty shoot out, Falcons didn’t miss! Penalties from Phoenix, Harry M, Evan and Hunter, a save from Harry M and a Normanby miss saw us through to the next round.
Durham Tigers 1 v Aycliffe Under 16 Eagles 2
A great game to watch against a very good side, but the lads dug deep and deserved the win. Most of the game being played in the middle of the park with our solid defence forcing Durham to take shots from distance. Half time and we were a goal up through Olly. Second half, more of the same, but a great goal from Alibie widened the gap. Durham managed to get one back, but the game finished 1-2. MOM Harvey.
Aycliffe U15 Angels 7 v Hetton 2
Charli opened the scoring after two minutes, followed five mins later as Hannah buried a cross at the back post. The third came as Hannah, set away down the right wing, fired a ball across the face of the goal for Faith to smash home and a 3-0 HT lead. Evie then scored, followed by Faith, to once again finish brilliantly. Hetton kept pushing and grabbed a goal, but Faith restored the 5-goal cushion. However, a goal for each team to finish the game, Faith firing a powerful shot at goal that the keeper saved, but Heidi reacted first to poke it over the line. Players: Emily. Parents: Daisy D. Coaches: Poppy.
TIBS 2 v Aycliffe U14 Girls 1
Aycliffe conceded on 15 minutes, but the girls kept battling throughout the half. HT 1-0. The team picked up in the second half and got a well-deserved goal courtesy of Peyton’s long-range shot catching the keeper off her line. The last 15 minutes it was end to end with the game looking like it could go either way. Unfortunately, it was TIBS who got a last-minute winner. POTM: Imogen; Players Player: Jasmin.
Aycliffe U10 Eagles v Prissick Rovers
The lads started well against the only league team to beat them all season. Ahmed scored the opener, but in the final five mins, Prissick grabbed an equaliser. Rogan playing his best game of the season, Alex running their defence all over, with Ahmed and Teddie creating chances. Thomas playing in the middle, a new position for him, doing a great job. The back three always dependable Fred, Edward and Kaiden. The effort was there for all to see. MOM: Teddy.
Aycliffe U10 Wildcats v CLS Amazons
After last weeks hard fought draw, the girls were determined to get a win. Bella was driving forward at every opportunity, however it was CLS that opened the scoring, but Aycliffe drew level just before HT, as Caitlyn H found herself clear in the box and calmly slotted into the corner. The second half had chances for both teams, but Anna was outstanding in goal helped by solid defence from Lottie. Then, midway through the half, Charlotte won the ball and slid a pass to Poppy who found Isla who then fired an unstoppable shot into the far corner. Overall, it was a midfield battle most of the game and it was Miya and Alice who won most of the tackles, and a well-deserved win for the girls.
Aycliffe U9 Eagles v Barnard Castle
The lads started really quickly and went one nil up in the first minute before conceding two goals to go in at half time, unfortunate to be trailing. The boys kept trying and deservedly scored four unanswered goals to win the game comfortably. Three goals for Josh and two goals for Toby.
