Washington Athletic Miami U9’s v Heighington FC U9’s
The boys arrived looking very smart in their new jackets ready for the cold months ahead thanks to all the money raised from the Heighington Buster fundraiser.
Another unlucky one for the boys today. Two goals from Oscar and Isaac who got opposition managers player. Finally, back next week to a full team after both Jak and William have had the all clear to play after their injuries. Fingers crossed for a better week next week.
Thank you to our parents, coaches and sponsor, Apex Wiring Solutions for your continued support. MOTM: Issac.
Heighington U8’s played out of their skin and never gave up, a great win with some really good football played. Goals from Genry Ellis and Able. Coaches MOM: Ellis, Opposition Coaches MOM: Henry.
Heighington FC U15’s Whites v Grangetown YCC U15’s
Great work today, lads. The spirit and fight you showed were a credit to yourselves and the club. While the result may not have gone your way, the lessons learned and the character displayed are invaluable. Hold your heads high and keep working hard. Thank you to a great set of parents and our sponsor Enviro Gas Services, for your continued support.
Heighington U15’s 5 v Gateshead FC 1
A really great team performance against a strong and physical Gateshead side. Really chuffed for the lads today. It was great to see them playing like that and looking like they were really enjoying themselves. A thoroughly deserved win that I know they’ve been desperate for. Great attitude and commitment as well as playing some outstanding football.
MOTM: Jermaine got the nod again today. We thought he was in for a tough one when we saw their two centre backs! But he gave them nightmares all game and deserved his two goals. Big mention to all the lads though, as it was a real team performance and everyone had a great game.
Goals: Josh, Jermaine, Freddie and Hayden.
Hartlepool FC U13 9 v Heighington U13 2
Another tough encounter saw the Heighington boys fall to another defeat at the hands of an excellent Hartlepool team. The lads were chasing shadows from the off as Hartlepool stroked the ball around effortlessly, causing all sorts of havoc in the Heighington defence early on. Heighington struggled to get any type of foothold in the first twenty minutes and seemed very laboured in the warm up and early stages of the match. This led to the lads coming in at 4-0 down at half time, although we did create a few chances in the later stages of the half.
Heighington looked a little sharper early in the second half, with Jonah grabbing a brace to make it 4-2, but the game got away from us as Hartlepool found their rhythm again shortly after and dominated the rest of the match.
A very tough day at the office, but these are the matches we must learn from. We played well in spells and did create, but we were indeed beaten by a better side, there’s no getting away from it. We must endeavour to learn to pass the ball around at the back calmly and recycle the ball when we need to start again. We are currently working on this during training, but Hartlepool made it difficult to put anything together due to their organisation and determination.
However, the Heighington lads stuck with it until the end and did not lose their heads – they kept their attitudes right, despite the tough morning and the scoreline. Credit to them. Big shout out and thanks, as always, to Chris Harper and the SASH Hardware and for their continued support and sponsorship.
