In today’s digital age, it’s important for parents to find tools that not only engage children, but also enhance their learning. Sparx Reader is one such tool designed specifically for improving children’s reading skills through a personalised, data-driven approach, and it’s going down brilliantly at Woodham Academy. Sparx Reader aims to foster a love for reading while ensuring measurable progress.
The programme offers a wide range of books, from fiction to non-fiction, across various genres and reading levels, catering to the interests and abilities of each child. Unlike traditional reading programmes, Sparx Reader uses artificial intelligence (AI) to adapt to a child’s reading level, and this is currently being used by all students in years 7, 8 and 9.
The platform goes beyond just reading books, it includes comprehension exercises, quizzes, and real-time feedback to track progress. This means that children not only improve their reading skills, but also build critical thinking abilities by analysing and understanding what they read.
Parents can use the detailed reports provided by Sparx Reader to track their child’s progress, celebrate their achievements and address any areas where they may need extra support. At Woodham, we place a high level of importance on reading and literacy, as it’s a vital skill to access the entire curriculum, and the world beyond.
