Darlington Borough Council has teamed up with Darlington Citizens Advice Bureau’s (CAB) Benefit Entitlement Action Team (BEAT) to help move £26m of central government’s money into the rightful hands!

Over £26m of benefits go unclaimed by Darlington residents every year! Could you or someone you know be one of them?

The council and the Citizens Advice Bureau’s (CAB) Benefit Entitlement Action Team (BEAT) have joined forces to encourage people to check and claim to confirm whether they are entitled to claim benefits.

Over £26m of benefits go unclaimed in Darlington and surrounding villages every year – money residents should be claiming, money that should be helping families and our town’s economy.

Whether you are a pensioner, a person with a disability in work, caring for someone, a family on a low income, struggling financially or you know someone who is, the BEAT team is ready to help.

Let us get money into the pockets of those who need it most!

Councillor Doctor Amanda Riley, Darlington Borough Council’s cabinet member for stronger communities said:

“£26m goes unclaimed in benefits by Darlington residents every year, this is money that could be helping your family and making its way into our local economy. The council is delighted to work with Darlington CAB to encourage everyone to have a financial MOT, especially if you are struggling.”

“Pensioners, disabled people, families on low income, carers, if are struggling financially, please, please check. If you find the process daunting or do not feel like you have the energy or know how to check– contact the BEAT team at Darlington CAB – they would love to hear from you and are ready to help. You can quickly visit to speak to someone, email, or call. There may not always be someone to answer your call, but someone will call you back. Don’t miss out, that £26m belongs in Darlington,”

The Benefit Entitlement Action Team – BEAT – would love to help you, check, and claim what’s yours.
