On the weekend of 21st and 22nd September 2024, Newton Aycliffe based kart racer Scarlet Whitaker Dunn attended Teesside Autodrome for round 7 of the Teesside Sprint Series. She was racing in the highly competitive Honda Cadet 200cc class on what turned out to be a weekend of mixed weather conditions.
An unfortunate qualifying session left Scarlet with lots of work to do in her races, the last one particularly so, meaning that she would start the final race of the day from an undesirable 20th place on the grid of the 26 kart field.
Although she got off the start line well, Scarlet struggled to stay with the main group due to an issue with the steering of her kart which was sustained earlier in the day. Despite this, Scarlet is looking forward to the final rounds, 8 & 9 in the Teesside Sprint Series, which will be held 25th – 27th October. Scarlet is hoping to progress into the twin engine Junior Pro-Kart championship next year. If you would like to come on board, to make this possible, that would be amazing, so we can get Scarlet out for some winter testing, ready for 2025.
We would like to thank Amaron Racing, PHM (Peninsula Historic Motorsport), Grandad Ron and Rob Storey for their generous assistance and financial support making this possible.
