Opera Day at Woodham Burn Community Primary School, on Friday 14th June, was a huge success. Forty Year 5 children took part, capably assisted by five talented music students from Woodham Academy. The day was led by Ben Noble, Music Educator, and Lauren Gilbert, Opera Nova Accompanist, aided by a group of Opera Nova singers.
Everyone worked hard throughout the day, learning to sing and act four numbers from the comical operetta The Merry Widow. At the end of the day, all took part in a performance for the whole school. Even the youngest children in the audience were enthralled. Everyone had great fun – and performed brilliantly.
On Saturday 29th June, Opera Nova will give a very special performance of The Merry Widow featuring children from Woodham Burn Primary School supported by Woodham Academy music students. The performance starts at 7.30pm and tickets are just £5.00 for adults and free for all under 18s. Phone 07795 323985 to reserve tickets in advance.
Important note: The venue for this performance has changed from Woodham Academy to Woodham Burn Community Primary School.
Opera Nova would like to thank Great Aycliffe Town Council for the generous support that made all our summer events in Newton Aycliffe possible.
