Some 329 bag were collected, 167 of which were donated to Yorkshire Air Ambulance, while 162 bags were handed over to Great North Air Ambulance. Across the country more than 950 bags were collected for a total of 11 air ambulance charities.
National Highways Customer Service Manager Ellen Harrison said: “This is the third year we have come together with our supply chain for this amazing cause. We are always pleased to help the air ambulance charities because of the vital work they do to save lives. Many of our front line staff, including our supply chain colleagues, see the difference they make at very close quarters and value them immensely. The amount of items that have been donated over recent weeks is testament to that.”
Phil Hall, commercial project manager at GNAAS, said: “It’s lovely to see National Highways and the supply chain have come together again to support our charity. Every piece of clothing collected and recycled by our team generates vital funds for GNAAS, so we really appreciate their support.”
Katie Collinson, Partnerships Manager at Yorkshire Air Ambulance, said: “We are incredibly grateful to the team at National Highways for their ongoing generosity and support through this annual recycling initiative. Every clothing donation not only benefits the environment, but also directly contributes to funding our vital air ambulance missions, helping our critical care team to provide pre-hospital care to those in need across Yorkshire. We look forward to continuing our partnership and making an even greater impact together.”
