Sedgefield 75 Swimming Club were back in competition last weekend as they headed back to Billingham Forum pool, this time for Borough of Stockton’s Winter Festival gala.
As a level two competition, it attracts the top clubs from the region looking to secure qualification for Winter Nationals pushing the standard right up there.
Alex Boyer swam 400m freestyle with a near five seconds personal best, finishing fifth, a good result, with Alex also celebrating selection into the England Triathlon Squad.
Aviana Wilson took on seven events and secured several top ten finishes, the highlight being a two-second PB in 100m individual medley.
Evie Weston swam in five events and beat her PB’s in three of them, 100 and 200m individual medleys and 100m butterfly all gave good improvements.
Tom Curran returned to competition for the first time in a while and beat his PB’s in all three of his events, 50m butterfly, backstroke and freestyle.
Niamh Welburn also had a 100% return on PB’s as she took bronze in 50 and 200m backstroke, in which she took over six seconds off her PB, and fourth place in 100m backstroke and IM. She also achieved her first Regional Championships qualifying times at all three backstroke distances.
Zoe Hodgson swam a solid 50m freestyle time to finish ninth and Charlotte Lee swam five events and came away with two new PB’s in 50m butterfly and 200m breaststroke.
Next up for the club is the Regional (25m) Championships with Aviana, Niamh and Alex having earned places at Ponds Forge International Swimming Centre in Sheffield in November.
