The final update of my cycle the month challenge.
I started the month with the idea of completing 500km (310 miles) in 31 days to raise some money for three very deserving charities.
The weather for the beginning of the month wasn’t great and, at one point I thought I may develop webbed feet, but I plodded on and only completed three rides in the gym.
I had some good rides locally and found some really good routes with some amazing scenery not too far from home.
So, now for some stats, 568km (353miles) completed, a total elevation gain of 6,237m (over 20,000ft) and 18,306 calories burned while riding.
Barring a couple of pledges that I am still waiting for, I am proud to have raised £769 for my chosen charities. When donations were made, donors were given the choice of charity they wanted to support and the monies raised will be allocated accordingly with Deliverance receiving £215, Prostate Cancer UK benefiting from £342 and Brain Tumour Research getting £212.
My fundraising page is still open, and additional donations can be made by visiting http://linktr.ee/lwilliams_fundraising
A special thank you must go to Paul, from P. Hedley Tyres of Shildon, for the ongoing maintenance of the bike, his company on some of the rides and his knowledge of the local routes.
Thank you for your support and encouragement, and here’s to the next challenge, whatever it may be.
