On Thursday 6th and Friday 7th July, a mixture of year 5 and 6 children (from Stephenson Way Academy & Nursery School) went to Middleton-in-Teesdale. Over 200 pupils from various different schools attended the event over the two days. During our time there we took part in several workshops about the countryside: gamekeepers’ jobs, farming, birds and their habitats and the fire brigade taught us about fires on the moor.
We also had the chance to do some game tasting, we tried venison, pheasant and grouse! We all thought they were delicious! It was a really fun day because we got to appreciate the moorland and agriculture that is on our doorstep. We also got to do things that we do not normally get to experience on a normal school day!
Overall, it was a memorable experience!
