16 year old Zoe Maitchell very bravely had her long hair shorn off last week in aid of a Children’s Luekaemia Charity. Her family have been affected by cancer and Zoe wanted to give her support to victims suffering from this awful disease.
She was in tears as she stepped up for the hairdresser Deborah Surtees to do the job and as her locks fell to the floor her mother and sister also cried.
Onlookers however cheered and applauded this kind and thoughtful young lady. Reading about Zoe in Newton News, Matthew Dudley donated £90 to Zoe’s fundraising appeal and went along to Royal Pizza where Zoe works part-time to present the cheque.
Matthew’s mother died recently and the money was collected in lieu of flowers. As Matthew’s sister had died of Leukaemia at the age of seven he decided to support Zoe and her chosen charity.
Zoe’s target is £500 and if you wish to help, donations can be left at Newton Press offices on the Business Park or our agents Newsforce in the Town Centre or Walkers at Simpasturegate.
