The Northeast’s leading health and wellbeing charity Pioneering Care Partnership were delighted to welcome an enthusiastic group of volunteers from 3M to the centre, Monday 17 September, as part of their Global Volunteer Day. Every year 3M seeks worthwhile community projects to engage and support for a day. Over the 50 years of service in Newton Aycliffe 3M have proudly supported a wide range of projects providing over 50 volunteers and over 536 hours of support this year alone.

3M brought 16 volunteers who arrived bright and early, eager to help. The volunteers worked long and hard in the PCP Garden providing them with 7 hours of support each. The group dug up every weed in sight, cleaned the pavements and dug out old grass plots whilst listening to music and enjoying the day.

Stacy Porter of Durham University on behalf of 3M said: “We’re constantly looking for charities and organisations for 3M employees to volunteer alongside which have a health and educational focus. This whole day has been rewarding not only for our employees as they have learned more about what PCP offer the community and also about the work of the charity. Durham University, who plan ‘Employee Supported Volunteering’, know this is extremely worthwhile for local business to get involved in, not only to see the changes around them but to make their mark in a better community. It’s so beneficial for our volunteers too, as every trip is an educational one.”

Volunteers are integral to the work of PCP and are hugely valued members of our team they help us to deliver a vast array of projects and services. Lynsey Todd, Head of Customer Experience said: “It’s great to see business and the community working together to improve the health, wellbeing and quality of life of individuals. We are hoping to build further links with local business, to support the vast array of projects and services PCP delivers.”
