School Aycliffe’s girl racer Scarlet Dunn made a great debut stepping up to the IAME class Bambino’s last weekend at Rowrah, in Cumbria.

In her first competition with slick tyres and a more powerful engine, she hit the ground running and was immediately setting good lap times, lapping 4-5 seconds a lap quicker than the Bambino Comer powered kart.

She qualified in 2nd place, had 2 second places in the heats and continued the good form into the final where she finished runner up to friend and regular IAME race winner Tyler O’Neil.

“She’s really happy to have gone well from the start” said Mam Amanda. “She loves the extra grip from the slick tyres and the engine has more power too. Scarlet never stopped grinning all weekend and couldn’t wait to get back on track. It’s lovely to see her so happy on and off the track and she makes me so very proud.”

Her team, Amaron Racing, were also thrilled with the performance with Grandad Ron and long time mechanic Rob Storey overseeing things to make sure everything ran smoothy.

The move to the faster class is good preparation for her planned move to the even faster Cadet Karts in 2020.

She next races in 3 week’s time at her home circuit at Teesside.
