This week Newton News found a piece of interesting “cine camera” footage from the 1960’s. The footage has been converted to modern format and placed on the Newton News website for all to view.
The two old and poor quality videos show the Newton Aycliffe Carnival procession through the town and the myriad of floats as the whole community got involved in the annual event.
To view the footage simply go to www.newtonnews.co.uk and click on the “Video Archive” section near the bottom of the home page and browse under Events.
Also found was a piece of Newton Press history from the 1960’s, showing our founder’s first premises in a unit at the back of the Neville Parade shopping area. This has also been added to the site and can be viewed under the Video/Business tab.
Also recently added was a potted history of the Northern Soul movement in Newton Aycliffe during the 1970’s and early 80’s. This information and photos can be found under the “Events” tab at the top of the home page.
If you have an interesting piece of Newton Aycliffe history we can give you space on our website FREE – send the information to paul@newtonnews.co.uk
