Neil O’Connor, Managing Director of Fleet Recruitment Ltd on Aycliffe Business Park, undertakes a big charity challenge every year.

This year’s challenge is to cycle nonstop from County Durham to the furthest point west in the UK, which is Belleek in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, to raise money for the Royal British Legion which is the chosen charity of the Chairman of Durham County Council – Councillor John Lethbridge.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the end of the 1st World War and we would like to raise as much as we can for this wonderful charity.

Neil and 4 friends – Judith King, Peter Brookes, David Shipman and Andrew Gilmore, will take on the challenge, cycling the 130 miles to Stranraer before crossing by ferry to Belfast and completing the remaining 100 miles to Belleek on the border with the Irish Republic. A grand total of 230 miles!

They will be supported on the ride by the North East Autism Society, who are providing back up vehicles an support for the mainland UK leg and Fleet Financial Ltd, Ireland’s leading vehicle contract hire provider, who are providing back up vehicles and support in Northern Ireland.

We can’t thank them enough and could not do this without them. Their target is £1,500. The just giving page is:
