On Sunday 26th May, Eric Stapleton, Michael Fitzgerald and Michael Brown are in the ‘Ride London’ – Essex a 100 mile cycling event.
This is an organised annual event with around 20,000 cyclists taking part along a 103-mile route finishing on Tower Bridge, London. The ride must also be completed within 8 hours.
So, why are we doing it?
Heart disease has personally affected our family and friends and only recently a customer had a heart attack in the Fish Bar in Newton Aycliffe. Our friend Eric (who is riding with us) is the manager of the Fish Bar and while the customer was being given CPR, Eric ran to retrieve the nearest defibrillator which was then used to save the customers life.
This year we will be raising funds for The British Heart Foundation and local charity ‘Missed A Beat’ who install defibrillators in vital places like schools, parks, and other public areas, around County Durham.
The British Heart Foundation fund around £100 million of research each year into all heart and circulatory diseases and their causes – Heart Diseases, Stroke, Vascular Dementia, Diabetes – they’re all connected.
We would be grateful for your support with this worthy cause and whatever you can donate will be much appreciated.
